Maintaining momentum: driving improvements in mental health care

Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman report reviewing complaints that finds vulnerable patients with mental health conditions are being let down by the NHS, causing them and their families needless suffering and distress. It reports that NHS mental healthcare staff can lack the capacity, skills and training they need to do their job effectively, and do not always have the support they need to learn from mistakes. It also identifies that it expects improvements as a result of the ‘Five Year Forward View for Mental Health’.
