Despite the challenges of the present, it is important that we look towards the future and envision a world with good mental health for all. Such a world would enable us to realise our potential, control our lives, and actively contribute to our communities and society.
This strategy sets out our case for a fresh emphasis on prevention, including understanding the causation and development of mental health problems, the pattern of risks and prevalence across different individuals and groups.

The Mental Health Foundation, August 2014
On 14 May 2014, the Health Foundation hosted a workshop to discuss building capability for improving safety. Following on from the event they have produced a report which:
- summarises key points from the workshop discussion
- presents the examples of capability building approaches shared with workshop participants before the event
- provides brief profiles of examples of activities that build improvement capability identified in the web research
The report also presents an enhanced model for safety and quality improvement capability, derived from the workshop discussions.
