Access and Waiting Time Standard for Children and Young People with an Eating Disorder: Commissioning Guide

The primary aim of this document is to deliver guidance on establishing and maintaining a community eating disorder service.  This guide is aimed primarily at commissioners, referrers and providers of eating disorder care who are required to agree service development and improvement plans as part of the contracting process. NHS England launches first stage of new programme to improve young people’s mental health services

NHS England has distributed £30m of funding to improve eating disorder services aiming to achieve 95 per cent of patients being seen within four weeks or one week for urgent cases by 2020.

The funding is the first stage of a new programme to improve children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing and will be used to improve community based eating disorder (ED) services so patients are helped earlier and fewer need in-patient care.

Guidance for the use of audio-visual recording in child psychiatric practice

This report presents guidelines that address all forms of recording, storage and transmission of audio-visual recording within child mental health practice, regardless of whether or not the recording forms part of the clinical record.

The report outlines the procedures involved in audio-visual recording including ensuring confidentiality and obtaining consent. It provides guidance for all child and adolescent psychiatrists, and all other professionals in CAMHS, who are involved in the making and subsequent use of audio-visual recordings.

Peer victimisation during adolescence and its impact on depression in early adulthood: prospective cohort study in the United Kingdom

This paper aims to investigate the strength of the association between victimisation by peers at age 13 years and depression at 18 years using a prospective cohort study of 6719 participants.

When using observational data it is impossible to be certain that associations are causal. However, the results of the study are consistent with the hypothesis that victimisation by peers in adolescence is associated with an increase in the risk of developing depression as an adult.

Identifying and managing common childhood language and speech impairments
