Building capability to improve safety

On 14 May 2014, the Health Foundation hosted a workshop to discuss building capability for improving safety.  Following on from the event they have produced a report which:

  • summarises key points from the workshop discussion
  • presents the examples of capability building approaches shared with workshop participants before the event
  • provides brief profiles of examples of activities that build improvement capability identified in the web research

The report also presents an enhanced model for safety and quality improvement capability, derived from the workshop discussions.

Keeping Myself Safe: Practitioner’s toolkit for developing effective relationships with vulnerable young people

Action for Children have developed a new practitioner’s toolkit which gives young people in our residential services a voice and offers guidance to the practitioners who support them.

Focusing on safeguarding issues such as risk taking behaviour and self harm, the toolkit explores the skills and qualities which practitioners should have if they are to build effective professional relationships which can enable young people to build their resilience, develop confidence and manage risk in their lives.
